FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID WORKSHOPS 


Parents of seniors can apply for college financial aid early, beginning October 1, 2020.  The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) now uses the previous year's tax information, 2019 tax returns for this year's seniors.  FAFSA priority deadline, March 15, 2021.

There are 2 steps to completing the FAFSA.
Step 1, create your I.D.# at www.fsaid.ed.gov   Both student and parent must create an I.D.#
Step 2, complete the FAFSA at  www.fafsa.gov  

If you have questions or need assistance with the FAFSA, financial aid representatives from KCC's Financial Aid Office can help.

You may also attend one of the FAFSA Workshops at KCC generally from October - December.

SENIORS: Seniors the SAT exam is still a graduation requirement.  You will have the opportunity to take the SAT exam on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, during school.  The Illinois State Board of Education is requiring all seniors to take the SAT as a college entrance exam and as a graduation requirement.

JUNIORS: This year all Juniors will be taking the SAT exam on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, during school.  The Illinois State Board of Education is requiring all seniors to take the SAT as a college entrance exam and as a graduation requirement.

FRESHMEN & SOPHOMORES: All freshmen and Sophomores will be taking the PSAT exam on April 13, 2021.  For the 2020-2021 school year, the Illinois State Board of Education will provide all public school districts with one administration per student in grades 9 & 10.  The PSAT assess the same knowledge and skills as the SAT in a way that makes sense for different grade levels to make it easier for students, parents, and educators to monitor student progress.

PRE-ENGINEERING AT EIU
Pre-Engineering at EIU is a program that provides the first rwo years of a four-year engineering degree. The third year a student will enter an engineering program at EIU.  Another option allows a student to transfer to UIUC or to SIUC their fourth year for a double bachelor's degree in engineering.  Engineering programs include Aeronautical, Bioengineering, Chemical, Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Nuclear, and more.  For more info go to www.eiu.edu/~pre-eng

TEACH OUTDOORS SCHOLARSHIP
$1,000 Scholarship.  The scholarship will be awarded directly to a student who is furthering his or her
education by attending college, a university or trade school. Applicant must reside in Illinois in one of the listed counties; Bureau, Ford, Grundy, Henderson, Henry, Iroquois, Kankakee, Kendall, Knox, La Salle, Livingston, Marshall, Mercer, Peoria, Putnam, Rock Island, Stark, Warren, Will or Woodford County.  
Applicant must submit an essay (being 1-2 pages typed). Essay topic: Explain how your
experience during the COVID pandemic has positively impacted your relationship with the Great Outdoors.

ILLINOIS CHEMICAL EDUCATION FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS
$2,000 scholarships.  For high school seniors who plan to pursue a career as a chemist, chemical engineer, environmental engineer, or as a high school chemistry teacher.  Applications are in the guidance office.
Deadline, March 19, 2021.

ETHAN ALLEN JOHNSON & CAROLINE H. JOHNSON TRUST SCHOLARSHIP
Up to $5,000 based on financial need, GPA, and SAT score of at least 675.  High school students in Kankakee and Iroquois Counties are eligible to apply.  Parents must complete their 2020 Federal Income Tax return by March 12, 2021.  
Applications are in the guidance office.  Deadline, February 26, 2021.

JOHN LOCKE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
(5) $1,000 scholarships.  In memory of John Locke, a scholar and athlete from Aroma Park.  Selection is based on G.P.A (3.0 or higher) athletics (varsity letter), and community service.  Click here to apply, Application

GOLDEN APPLE SCHOLARS OF ILLINOIS

Seniors are encouraged to complete their college applications by November 15.  November 15 is the priority deadline for most state universities (November 1, for University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign) to be considered for merit and academic scholarships based on your ACT or SAT score and high school GPA.  Below is a partial list of academic, merit, and financial need scholarships offered.

Free tuition & fees for up to 4-years.
Illinois Special Education Teacher Tuition Waiver.
