Sponsor a Bear for Lurie's Children's Hospital

March 22, 2019

It is that time of year again! The Momence National Junior Honor Society and National Honor Society have chosen once again to help Lurie’s Children’s Hospital  by donating teddy bears to the children. We need your help!! There are different options to sponsor a bear:

$12.00- Mini Bear (This includes clips that the children put on their IV poles to
carry with them all the time!)

$17.00- Regular Sized “Happy Hugs” Bear

$25.00- Bear Accessories (sleeping bag, clothes, etc.)

$30.00- Themed Animal (Character, Unicorn, Holiday, etc.)

$50.00- Regular Bear plus accessories (accessories may include, but not limited to
Pajamas, outfits, hair ties, shoes, etc.)

The members of NJHS and NHS will take one day and go to Build-a-Bear, make the bears, and  deliver them to Lurie’s Children’s Hospital.  All bears will go to the floors where children have to stay for extended periods of time.  Many students in our district have been patients at Lurie’s Children’s Hospital for many different reasons.

This year we are sponsoring the trip again in honor of Mason Duran, a 7th grader here at MJHS and Ashlynn Zimmerman, a Sophomore at Momence High School.  Mason is 10 years cancer free and 6 years since his last treatment and Ashlynn is 6 years cancer free!  Mason and Ashlynn will be joining us on this trip to help give back to the hospital and Ronald McDonald House that gave them so much.

We will also be donating Pop Tabs to Ronald McDonald House-Lurie’s.  The pop tabs are weighed and the money from them is donated from United Scrap Metal to Ronald McDonald House Charities to help with bills, food, etc. so the families can stay close to their children in a safe, comfortable, and inviting environment.

Last year, we donated over $2,500 worth of bears and accessories. Almost every bear that was given had shoes or clothes to go along with it. It was AWESOME!

Please consider helping this amazing group of children and their passion for helping others.

Due Date for Order Form and Money: Friday, April 12.

Thank you,
NJHS, NHS, and children at Lurie’s Children’s Hospital
