Veterans Day Program Presentation Highlights Kasler Statue

November 06, 2019

On November 11th, the school district celebrated with the community by hosting a Veteran’s Day Breakfast followed by a special program to honor Col. James Kasler of the United States Air Force.  As in years past, our area Veterans were recognized by name, rank, and service.  Colonel Kasler was a highly decorated fighter pilot and prisoner of war during the Vietnam War.  A statue of the Colonel now stands at the Northwest corner of the Junior High School grounds to commemorate his service to country.  Dennis Marek, a former CIA Operative, spoke about his experiences with Colonel Kasler, in which he shared several stories and named his many accomplishments. The Band and Chorus performed several numbers to showcase the event.  To close the assembly, the Junior High School gymnasium flag, which flew over Afghanistan, was retired and a new one was raised in it's place.
