School Closure Extended through 4-7 by Governor

March 20, 2020

Spring Break – March 23, 24, 25, 26, & 27

School Extended Closing – March 31 – April 7

School Resumes – Wednesday, April 8

March 20, 2020

Dear MCUSD#1 Parents:

On Friday, March 20, Illinois State Governor J.B. Pritzker, announced during a press conference that all Illinois residents will be in a “shelter-in-place” starting Saturday, March 21.

He is commanding residents to stay in their homes during this spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The “shelter-in-place” does allow residents to go to grocery stores, gas stations, and make pharmacy runs.

Governor Pritzker also stated that Illinois public and private schools will be extending the closure from March 31 through April 7 due to the COVID-19 virus.

These days have not yet been determined by Illinois State Board of Education and Governor Pritzker. We will communicate with you once they determine what these days are classified.

At this time, school is scheduled to resume on Wednesday, April 8.

Updates will be shared through your school email account, Facebook, and the district school webpage. We will continue to update you once we have information.

The closures affect all programming at the school, including before and after school activities, all athletic and extracurricular practices and competitions, and weekend events.

We will also continue to update you by email and/or voice message on any new developments as things seem to change almost daily. Governor Pritzker and State Superintendent Ayala will continue to update us daily as well.

Further information will come next week as to whether we can continue to provide breakfast and lunch “grab and go” and delivered meals for all Momence students on Monday, March 30. Future dates and times will also be determined next week as well.

Thank you for understanding and support.  Please feel free to contact your building principal or me if you have additional questions.

Mr. Shannon Anderson

Momence CUSD#1 Superintendent
