Remote Learning Guidance

Good morning,

As the State Superintendent indicated over the weekend, all Illinois schools will begin Remote Learning Days beginning today, Tuesday, 3/31.  Our primary focus remains the same- to keep children emotionally safe, physically safe, fed, and engaged in learning. Thank you for all of the support you have provided to our staff during this time!  We ask that you please continue to support us in this. With that being said, at this time, we are taking the following steps.

Meals/Packet Pick-up

At this time, we will continue to use Monday for meal delivery and packet pick-up.

ADJUSTED TIMES:

MEALS ON WHEELS: LEAVING DISTRICT AT 12:45, PLEASE BE READY TO MEET BUSSES.

GRAB-N-GO: 1-2PM AT MECC

PACKET PICK-UP AT ALL BUILDINGS 1-2PM

Modified Calendar

We are in the final stages of sending out an updated calendar for the month of April.  We will send it out via Teacherease, post it on FB, and also the district homepage.  This Thursday, April 2nd, students WILL NOT have assignments, and teachers WILL NOT be available to help students. Teacher will use the day for Remote Learning Planning.  Remote Learning will resume Friday.

Grading

Student tasks will now be graded.  We are following guidance issued by ISBE, and more specific information will be released as soon as possible.  Students need to complete all assigned tasks.

Digital Learning Delivery

MCUSD#1 staff will be implementing a variety of strategies to deliver the lessons electronically to your student.  We have been using Google Classroom for the past three years and this program is effective in delivering content. Other apps (Zoom, GotoMeeting, BlueJeans) that contain a video conferencing feature may be used for the purpose of teaching and learning and delivery of instruction.  We have posted a district Privacy Disclosure in the Remote Learning tab on each school’s homepage. If you do not agree with having your child in the video, then contact your teacher or building Principal.  In some cases, the solution may be as simple as changing the settings, or having your child receive packets.

Special Needs

Special Education Teachers will continue to collaborate with staff to implement IEPs.  Students with IEP meetings coming up will be contacted by the Special Ed Department. Meetings may be conducted in an alternative format, due to Covid-19.

MTSS/ELL

Interventionists and ELL teachers will continue to work in collaboration with classroom teachers and provide support as necessary; this may mean contacting students, or providing lesson development strategies and support.  At this time interventionists will continue to provide Tier 3 support.

Graduation requirements

High school Graduation requirements are currently being discussed at ISBE and the Governor’s Office.  We will provide information as it is released to Illinois schools.
