Greetings Parents and Families of Momence Junior High School!

My name is Mrs. Jacqanai Gipson, and I am the principal of Momence Junior High School! I have over 18 years of experience, 8 as a classroom teacher and 10 as a school administrator. I began my teaching career in Matteson, Illinois as a middle school English Language Arts teacher. After several years in the classroom, I became the Assistant Principal of McKinley Elementary and Junior High School in South Holland, Illinois. I served the McKinley school community for six years before leaving to take my first principalship at Bryant Elementary School in Harvey, Illinois. My time here at Momence Junior High began in August of 2016. Since then I have truly come to love your children and our school community.

As the school principal, I will continue to support the collaborative environment already established between faculty, staff, parents and community members. I will continue to reinforce a culture of high expectations; ensure that quality teaching happens every day; and make certain that we provide students with a high-quality, rigorous technology integrated academic program. Thank you again for this wonderful opportunity.

On behalf of the Junior High Staff, I would like to welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year. This year we are looking forward to establishing a successful partnership with you to ensure that every child in our care is given the tools necessary to achieve their highest potential. We understand that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both home and school. As partners, we want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities of creating students who are college and career ready. We ask that you assist us by ensuring that your child:

  1. Arrives at school on time each day
  2. Completes all homework assigned
  3. Reads daily to improve their literacy skills
  4. Share school experiences with you so that you are aware of what's happening at school
  5. Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
  6. Knows that you expect him/her to do their very best

If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to share please do not hesitate to contact me.
