Junior High Conference Track Meet

The Momence Junior high track team participated in the Kan Will Conference track meet Friday night in Manteno. The team gave a great overall effort. The highlights include conference championships from the 7th-grade boys 4X100m team that includes Terence Autman, Tyrelle Autman, Brogan Halpin, and Jevon Sneed. The 7th grade girls 4X100m team would not be outdone as they were conference champions as well. Team members include Zy’ier Bey-Fortinberry, Endya Hayes, Georgi Johnson, and Josie Newberry. Second place award winners include Zy’ier Bey-Fortinberry in the 7th-grade girls 100m dash, Endya Hayes in the 7th-grade girls 200m dash, Zane Duran in the 7th grade boys Shot Put and Discus, Jeremy Allaway in the 8th-grade boys long jump, and  Robert Rogers in the 8th-grade boys 110m Hurdles. The 8th grade girls 4X100m team also took second place and include Kaylee VanSwol, Abi Hunte, Makenna Marcotte and Camren Caban. Third place award winners include Zy’ier Bey-Fortinberry in the 7th-grade girls 200m, Kaylee VanSwol 8th grade girls 100m Hurdles, Makenna Marcotte 8th grade girls 100m dash, Amir Lindsey 8th grade boys shot put. The 7th-grade girls 4X400m relay also took third place and include Kyrie Brudnicki, Sydnee VanSwol, Georgi Johnson and Brittany Gomez. A special shout out goes to sixth graders Roman Ojeda and Aaron Lopez, who both ran the 7th grade boys 1600m for the first time and placed 5th and 8th respectively. Gaven Cantwell also placed 6th in the 1600m for the 8th grade boys. The track season winds down with the Kankakee Invitational on Saturday May 4th, followed by Sectionals on Saturday May 11th.
