Welcome Back Momence Family!
Hello and welcome back to the 2022-2023 School year! We are excited to have you back for another year and I am excited to continue my journey at MCUSD1 as the new high school principal. I am looking forward to working with you to make your time here as successful as we can make it! A little bit about myself: I began my teaching career at Simmons Middle School in Oak Lawn teaching 7th-grade computers. After a year there, I moved to Kotzebue, Alaska to teach social sciences to the Native Alaskans in the bush. I taught in Alaska for 4 years and in my 5th year up there I was asked by my superintendent to open and principal a small school of 50 students in Kobuk, Alaska. I did that for a year until family concerns moved me back to the Chicago land area. Upon my return, I took a position teaching 8th-grade history at Richland School in Crest Hill. Throughout my 8 years of teaching, I have been a varsity basketball coach, a middle school basketball coach, a football coach, a bowling coach, a golf coach, and a student government and council sponsor. I spent the last six years as the associate principal and principal at Momence Junior High and look forward to new opportunities and new challenges that the high school brings.
As your Principal, I am looking forward to a positive, student-centered, data-driven, environment. If you have any questions or concerns, please stop in anytime, my door is always open.
I am extremely pleased to be here, and I am excited to grow, learn, work, engage, and teach with all of you here at Momence High School.
Sincerely,
Mr. Jack Richards
